Happy Birthday
We would like to wish resident Dorothy Archer from Penmachno a very happy birthday this month. We hope she enjoyed her special day celebrating with her family. Thanks to the chefs for providing a birthday cake.
Welcome
Everyone would like to welcome a new carer to the Home this month, Katherine Streeter who is originally from Warwickshire but now lives in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Katherine has 14 years of experience in the care sector and has worked in a number of different settings.
We would also like to welcome new residents to the Home this month. Mr Bertram 'Keith' Scott and Mrs Anwen Scott who are husband and wife, originally from the Bala area. They moved to Penrhyn Bay many years ago and have been married for over 50 years. Keith was a resident here at Cartref Bryn yr Eglwys recently for a short time and has decided to move back here with his wife.
St David's Day
The residents enjoyed a roast lamb dinner on St David's Day, with creamed leeks, roast potatoes and mixed vegetables. Thanks again to Gwyndaf Evans from Hafod Denbigh farm for the delicious lamb! The residents were looking forward to the dinner after buying a lamb at the hospice auction in Pentrefoelas last month. The Home was decorated with posters, Welsh flags and daffodils.
After the special lunch, the residents enjoyed an afternoon taking part in a quiz about St David's Day with cake, Welsh cakes and a cup of tea.
Shrove Tuesday
The residents really enjoyed 'pancake day'. Residents chose their own toppings, with many sweet and savory options available.
Mothering Sunday
Our female residents enjoyed spending Mother's Day with their families opening presents and cards. Some of the residents had enjoyed extra 'pampering' with a 'spa day' having their hair done and hand massages.
Goodbye
We would like to wish the best of luck to carer Dulcie Jones who is leaving us this month. We wish her all the best in the future, and we hope she enjoys her new job.
Sympathy
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Doris 'Rita' Jones who sadly passed away this month. Rita was with us for two and a half years. She was a character that we will all miss.
Holidays
Many of the staff took holidays throughout March enjoying time with family and friends.
