Cartref Bryn yr Eglwys on a sunny day

October Newsletter 2025

Happy birthday

Two of our residents celebrated their birthdays during September, Mrs. Medwen Jones and Mrs. Gwen Hughes. We hope you both enjoyed spending your special day with your families at the Care Home. Many thanks to our lovely chefs for providing a delicious birthday cake for them both alongside afternoon tea preparations.

Congratulations

We would like to extend our congratulations to Nurse Kelsey Parry on her wedding day to her partner Clarrissa Edwards. Many of the staff members attended Kelsey's 'hen do' for 'bottomless brunch' in Conwy as well as the night do at the wedding at Hafod Farm, Betws-y- Coed. We are delighted the day was such a success for you both and you enjoyed your honeymoon in Venice! One of our carers, Nimmy Devasia who has worked at the Care Home for over three years, also got married in September, back in the state of Kerala in India. We hope you both will be very happy.

Sympathy

We would like to sympathize with the family of the late John Morris Edwards (Bala). John was a very likeable character and could be mischievous at times. He had been with us at Cartref Bryn yr Eglwys for over 1O years and prior to that he had received day care here while still living in Bala.

Thank you so much to Mannon, Siwan and Llyr for your support over the years. Your dad will be hugely missed!

We would also like to sympathize with Janice, Judith, Kevin and Keith over the loss of their mother Maureen Roberts (Blaenau Ffestiniog). Maureen was a resident at the Care Home for over five years and will be sadly missed by many. Prior to retiring, Maureen was a nurse at the Liverpool Hospital before returning to Blaenau Ffestiniog hospital to be a ward sister.

Lastly, we would like to sympathize with Sioned and lwan after the passing of their father Stanley Davies (Bala). Before retirement, Stanley was one of Bala's local policemen and was very well known in the town.

Holidays

Our nurse Manager Meryl Welsby enjoyed a holiday before the new school term started with her children Morgan and Mali. They enjoyed scuba diving in Turkey, seeing the shipwrecks up close, and it was also a real privilege to see an aeroplane.
Many thanks to clinical lead nurse Gabriella Sabadus for holding the fort in Meryl's absence.

Welcome

We would like to welcome Mrs. Joan Read (Penmachno) and Mrs.Gwen Hughes (Bala) to our Care Home this month. We hope you both settle in well amongst us all.

Photographs

It was an exciting day welcoming a professional photographer to the Home to take pictures for the Home's new website! Many of the staff at the Home were delighted and it was noticed that our 'maintenance' person (Mark Kendall) tended to be in the background of almost every picture!! Many thanks to our photographer Mandy Jones for going to so much trouble with the photos.
