Congratulations

We would like to congratulate Carer Mary Roberts for passing her NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care (Adults)! Well done, Mary!

Happy birthday

We have celebrated two of our resident's birthday this month, Mrs Rona Jones and also Miss Elizabeth Bird. It was lovely to see them celebrating their special day with family members. Many thanks to our wonderful chefs for preparing their birthday cakes and afternoon tea.

Welcome

We would like to welcome new resident Mrs Florence Taylor (Barmouth) to the Care Home this month. We hope you settle in well amongst us all. We would also like to welcome a new member to the housekeeping team, Kim Cole from Clawdd Newydd. We hope you enjoy working within our team. We would also like to welcome two new members to the care team. Sandhya will join us as a Senior carer, who has a background in nursing and has a wide range of experiences. Sunitha will join the team as a carer, who also has many years' experience in the care industry. They're both busy moving to the village with their families after working in Preston for many years.

Training

Thank you to everyone from the care team who managed to complete a course on wound management during the last month. This was a very challenging course, and we hope it will be of use in the future.

Holidays

A number of the Home's staff were on holiday during October. Helen Roberts (Office) enjoyed a fun time with her daughter - Gwawr visiting Helen's sister in Scotland. Our Nursing Manager Meryl Welsby was also abroad in Turkey with her children Morgan and Mali diving. Congratulations to both Morgan and Mali for passing a very difficult course - PADI Lifesaving Divers which took four days to complete. Meryl also managed to pass a 'Nitroux' course to enable her to use a high percentage of Oxygen in her diving tank. Carer, Mary Roberts spent a week in London visiting her daughter while Nurse Gabi Sabadus and Senior Carer Elain Morris spent a relaxing week at home.

Sympathy

We would like to offer our condolences to Mererid and llan (and all their families) in their bereavement of the loss of a very dear Mother and Grandmother, Mrs Dorothy Jones (Llangwm). Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support towards us at the Home. Especially to Mererid for coming to us so regularly to play the organ and sing with the residents.

60th birthday celebrations!!

A surprise party was organized to celebrate the Special Birthday of our office administrator - Helen Roberts at 'Signatures' Hotel in Conwy! Thanks to Gwawr, Helen's daughter, and to Meryl, for the thorough arrangements. It was nice to see eight of her colleagues at the party. Another surprise for Helen was that she got to stay in one of the Bodysgallen Hotel Cottages after the party with Meryl and Gwawr and a 'spa' session the following day. She had to take a week off to recover after all the celebrations!
