ELAIN'S PARTY
Many of the Home's staff enjoyed a very fun evening at Con Amici in Denbigh saying goodbye to our Senior Caregiver Elain Morris. Elain is going on maternity leave! Elain was busy all night opening a pile of presents for the baby and she was delighted to receive so many gifts and clothes for both her and the baby.
WELCOME
We would like to welcome new residents to the Home namely Mr Medwyn Jones (Penrhyndraedraeth) and Mr Wyn Roberts (Holyhead). We hope you will settle well among us.
HOLIDAYS
Our Senior Clinical Nurse (Kelsey Edwards) had a satisfying few days in Dublin with her partner and friends watching some of the women's rugby matches. In the same way, our Carer George Michael enjoyed time with his family in Kerala (South India) on the occasion of his sister’s wedding. It was lovely to be able to see the colourful pictures of the wedding after he returned. Our Carer Bethan Evans enjoyed a night away with her young family visiting several local beaches taking advantage of the summer weather.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Mrs Glenys Jones (Trawfynnydd) and Mr Wyn Roberts (Holyhead) celebrated their birthdays during the month. Many thanks to the kitchen staff for providing a cake, gift and cards for both occasions.
FLOWERS
There has been a lot of activity in the Home for a few weeks with the residents busy planting flowers in pots to decorate the front garden and back patio of the Home. Thanks to Mike Cardenas (Kitchen) and Mark Kendall (maintenance) for being busy watering the pots daily and to the chefs who were busy keeping old tea leaves. This was Mike's idea - To add tea leaves to the watering daily - a method he used at home in the Philippines and according to the growth of the flowers last year it has proven to be a successful method of nourishing the plants. We'll see how they get on this year!

ACTIVITIES
Many of the residents took advantage of the nice weather to sit out under the gazebo on the back patio of the Home. We also enjoyed daily reports from the Urdd Eisteddfod which was broadcast on S4C from Anglesey. Thanks also to Caregiver Mary Roberts for organizing an afternoon of board games (dominos, 'snakes and ladders', cards) for the residents. It was great to see many of the residents being so competitive!
CELEBRATE 'NURSE'S DAY'
A big thank you to our Senior Clinical Nurse (Kelsey Edwards) for providing a special exhibition celebrating 'nurse's day' on the 12th of May. The exhibition can still be seen in the entrance hall and is extremely interesting - it includes the history and development of nursing and also the history of Betsi Cadwaladr (from Bala) who was fundamental and prominent in establishing a nursing profession in Britain after her work with Florence Nightingale in Scutari looking after the soldiers who were injured during the Crimean War. Many thanks Kelsey for her effort to highlight the important role of the nurse.
BIRTH
Many congratulations to our Senior Caregiver Elain Morris and her partner Dafydd Royle on the occasion of the birth of their beloved little boy - Elis Hedd! Can't wait to see the little one soon!
