Happy birthday
Three of our residents celebrated their birthdays during this month. Many thanks to the cooks for preparing a lovely cake, card and small gift for all three of them. We hope Mrs Dorothy Archer (Cwm Penmachno), Mrs Dorothy Roberts (Fron Goch, Bala) and Mrs Sheila Wright (Barmouth) all enjoyed their special day celebrating with family, friends and staff at the Care Home.
Sympathy
We would like to extend our deepest condolences with the family and friends of Brenda Jones (Cerrigydrudion). Brenda kept a local shop in the village and was always friendly and happy to see you.
Holidays
Many of the staff were away on annual leave this month. Our housekeeper, Kim enjoyed a fortnight in Spain with her husband. Mavis, one of our carers enjoyed time away visiting family and friends in Ireland while our registered nurse manager, Meryl, enjoyed time with her children Morgan and Mali at Centre Parks in Nottingham.
Welcome
We would like to welcome a new resident to the Care Home this month, Mr Brian Collis (Blaenau Ffestiniog) who previously lived in Yorkshire. We hope you settle in well amongst us all.
We would also like to welcome a new member to the care team, Kasun De Silva Weerawardana. Kasun has joined us after working in London for some time after completing a degree. He is currently undergoing mandatory training at the Care Home.
Activities
Thank you to the cooks for providing a special Welsh lamb dinner for St David's Day. Everywhere was decorated with lots of Welsh flags and bunches of daffodils. After lunch there was a quiz on the theme of Wales and St David. For Mother's Day - a craft afternoon of card making was organised. Other activities such as ‘pamper afternoon’ was also offered to the female residents on Mother’s Day including manicures and hand massages. An instrumental afternoon by Mrs Mererid Williams was also enjoyed by the residents. Thanks also to our carer Gwawr for bringing her dog for the afternoon to entertain the residents. The dog's name is Jake, and he is very elderly (17 years old). He was rescued in Cyprus. Many in the Home doted on him giving him cuddles and food! We would like to thank our carers and a special thanks to Mrs Mererid Williams for organizing and hosting so many activities in recent months as life in a Home can be difficult and having some kind of activity every day is very beneficial for the soul.
Training
All the best to our Clinical Supervisor (Nurse Kelsey Parry) in her palliative care course. The course will take up to eight months to be completed and it will be of great use to us here at the Home. Good luck Kelsey!
