Welcome
We would like to welcome Mrs Brenda Mills from Cerrigydrudion as a new resident to Cartref Bryn yr Eglwys. Welcome also to Mother and Daughter (Gwenan and Helen Williams from Blaenau Ffestiniog) to the Home. We hope you will all settle well among us.
Happy Birthday
Warm greetings to Mr Bernant Hughes on the occasion of his birthday. Bernant enjoyed a small party here with his family. In the same way we would like to send greetings to Mrs Lena Jones who has recently celebrated her birthday again with her family. Each received gifts and cards, also many thanks to the kitchen staff for the lovely cakes.
Holidays
Our Nurse Manager Meryl Welsby enjoyed a week in the Red Sea on a 'liverboard' diving ship to see a number of famous shipwrecks. It was nice to see pictures and videos of the ship HMS Thistlegorm which was hit in 1940. The ship was carrying weapons for the British army to North Africa, and the tanks and weapons are still clearly visible at the bottom of the wreck. Two of our Carers (Sunitha and Jonathan) also enjoyed a week's holiday with their families, and we are glad to have them back at work.
Condolences
We would like to send our deepest condolences to our favourite member of staff - Georgina (Ysbyty Ifan), and also to her daughters Anna and Rhian, in their grief at the loss of a very beloved husband and father - James, after a painful illness. This is a very difficult time for this close family, and we hope your sweet memories sustain you during this trying time. Likewise, our condolences go out to the family and friends of Miss Elizabeth Bird who had been with us for over four years. Liz was a completely unique character, and she will be greatly missed.
Training
Our Head Clinical Nurse Gabi Sabadus and our manager Meryl attended an annual refresher course in end of life care this month. This means that as a Home we are able to maintain our Champions Certificate in end-of-life care. There was also in house training provided by a Specialist Nurse from Betsi Cadwaladr health board, regarding specialised procedures. Many thanks to everyone for attending.
Congratulations
As a Home we would like to congratulate our Carer Nimmy Devasia who has recently succeeded in her NVQ level 2 course in Health and Social Care through Coleg Cambria. Well done, Nimmy!
The Urdd Eisteddfod
A very lovely week was had with many of the residents watching all the competition on S4C from the Urdd Eisteddfod. Congratulations to all the winners!
Box Bwyd
