Cartref Bryn yr Eglwys on a sunny day

January Newsletter 2026

Kitchen Success - There was an unexpected inspection in the Home's kitchen by the Conwy County Council's Health and Environment inspector on the 23rd of January. We are proud to announce that at Cartref we have been awarded a high score of 5 for food preparation! Big congratulations to our kitchen team - Darren, Shane, Mike and Mark.

Sickness - We send warm greetings to our beloved Caregiver Nimmy Devasia who has been away from work for a few weeks with illness. There is a great longing for her warm smile, and we hope to see her back soon.

Holidays - Our carer George Michael has enjoyed a month's holiday at home with his family in Kerala, South India. In the same way, our carer Kasia Dudziak has been home visiting her parents in Krakow, and we are pleased to hear that Kasia's father is recovering well after his recent surgery.

Welcome - We would like to welcome new residents to the Home, namely Mrs. Margaret Jones (from Rhyd-uchaf) and Mrs. Dorothy Roberts (from Bala). We hope you will settle well among us.

Birthday Greetings – There were several birthdays celebrated during the month of January. Each resident celebrated with a birthday cake, gift and card. Greetings to Mrs. Muriel Payne (from Conwy), Mrs. Gwenda Shepherd (from Blaenau Ffestiniog), Mrs. Anona Edwards (from Maentwrog) and Mrs. Wendy Bolden (from Pentrefoelas). We hope you each enjoyed your special day.

Condolences - We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the families of the late Mrs. Thelma Roberts (from Pandy Tudur), Mrs. Eleanor Griffiths (from Caernarfon) and Mr. Keith Scott (from Llandrillo yn Rhos). Thank you for all the support we received from the families during the illness of these who were sadly lost.

Sunday Services - Many thanks to resident Mrs. Dorothy Archer (from Cwm Penmachno) who has been providing and holding bilingual services every Sunday afternoon for the Home's residents, without hesitation. Thanks also to the care team of the Home for leading the singing during each service with well-known hymns. These services have proven extremely popular and thanks to our resident Mr. Bernant Hughes (from Ruthin) for leading the singing.

New Year’s Day - We welcomed the New Year with music, a few glasses of wine and a special lunch (Welsh Lamb, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and gravy).

New Website - We are proud to announce that our new website is being launched for our Care Home at (www.cartrefbrynyreglwys.com). The website has taken longer than expected to prepare so we are pleased to finally have it 'live'. Our website will include general enquiries about our service, our monthly newsletter, and details of our updated inspection reports and available jobs.
