Happy New Year
Everyone from the Home would like to wish the residents, the supporting families and all local people a Happy New Year. We are grateful for your support and appreciate your help throughout the year.
Welcome
We would like to welcome a New Nurse to the Home, Miss Kelsey Parry from Llandudno. Kelsey has been working in the sector for years, including working in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. We are happy to see Kelsey settling in amongst the rest of the staff.
Welcome also to new carer Mavis Basopo who is originally from Zimbabwe South Africa. Mavis has been working in a community in England for a few months before starting with us in Bryn yr Eglwys. We hope she settles well among the staff and enjoys the new experiences.
Sympathy
We would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Mrs Glenys Owen from Gerrigydrudion. Glenys was with us here in Bryn yr Eglwys for a number of years. It was a huge loss for the Home. Glenys was always happy and had a smile on her face. Everyone would like to express their condolences to the family of the late Menna Davies from Blaenau Ffestiniog. Menna was a character and we will all miss her.
Happy Birthday
Everyone from the Home would like to wish a happy birthday to Mrs Muriel Payne, Gwenda Shepherd from Blaenau Ffestiniog and Mrs Edwina 'Wendy' Bolden from Pentrefoelas. We hope they enjoyed their special day with us here at Bryn yr Eglwys. Thanks again to the chefs for providing them with the birthday cake.
Holidays
Carer Mary Roberts was on holiday this month! Mary travelled back to South India (Kerala) for a whole month spending time with her family and friends! Nice to see Mary having so much fun. We are excited to welcome her back.
Pentrefoelas hospice auction
Cartref Bryn yr Eglwys has ordered half a lamb at the Pentrefoelas hospice auction this month. The residents and staff are looking forward to tasting Gwyndaf Evans Hafod Denbigh lamb during the St David's Day special lunch on the 1st of March!
Conwy's monitoring team inspection
During January the Conwy monitoring team came over to the Home to carry out an inspection where they assessed our competencies and interactions with the residents. The residents and staff were also questioned. The result of the inspection was extremely good. We would like to thank everyone for their hard work.
Activities
On the 27th of January the residents took part in two minutes silence to celebrate and remember all the people who lost their lives during Auschwitz. The 27th of January marked the 80th anniversary of the event. Following this, the residents took part in a quiz about Auschwitz and watched the celebration on television.
We would also like to take the opportunity to thank resident Dorothy Archer for holding a service every Sunday morning reading from the bible.
